Which edition is right for me?

There are two different "editions" of Icon Bank v4.0 (Gold). The Desktop Edition saves Icons in an .ICO, .BMP, .RLE or .DIB format and is ideal for people who want to change those boring desktop icons -or- use icons in their programs and applications (ie; the interface, taskbar, toolbar, etc). The Web Edition saves icons in a .GIF or .BMP format and is ideal for use on the web or for creating animations (animated .png's). Both support the use of plugins, importing, drag and drop and a host of other features. We are sometimes asked if it is possible to use a single edition of Icon Bank v4.0 for both saving icons to the desktop and for use on the web. The answer is yes!. The only real difference between the WEB EDITION and the DESKTOP EDITION is that the icons in the Desktop Edition are in a .default BMP format and the icons in the Web Edition are in a default .GIF format. There are various cosmetic differences but they are essentially the same product. The Web Edition was originally created as a result of consumer demand for a Netscape-compatible version of the product. The code had to be entirely rewritten to accomplish this. We also found that it was much better suited for web designers...hence the name "Web Edition". You may use the Web Edition to replace icons on your desktop or for use in your applications just like with the Desktop Edition. Simply follow the instructions in the HELP section of Icon Bank v4.0 and make sure your default image editor is capable of veiwing .GIF files (most do).
